Remember for a moment, the wonder you felt as a child at this time of year; the excitement and anticipation, the warmth of your family’s love. Now imagine this time of year without your parents. Imagine watching them die, being left alone, abandoned and shunned by your neighborhood and extended family because they fear you are infected with the same virus that took your parents. This is the reality for thousands of children who have been orphaned by the Ebola virus.Liberia June 2006 Day 2 Disk 1

Our hearts are breaking for these babies and toddlers! Because of this urgent need we have dedicated our efforts in December to raising awareness and funds for orphanages in Liberia and Sierra Leone who are caring for these precious little lives. You can help!

We heard one story of a four year old boy who watched his parents suffer with Ebola. He watched as they were sprayed with disinfectant and shortly thereafter pass away. He was admitted to an orphanage in Liberia with his three month old brother. When his baby brother started showing symptoms of Ebola they whisked him away for testing. Forced to be the head of his household at such a tender age, he grieved for his brother and sadly confided in one of the caregivers, “My brother will not survive because they will spray him! I will not see my little brother again.”

Liberia June 2006 Day 2 Disk 1He had been so traumatized by the loss of his parents and the stigmatism of the disinfectant spray that he mistakenly connected it with the death of his parents. Mercifully his baby brother tested negative for Ebola and recovered from his symptoms he displayed. They both remain in the care of the orphanage. We want to send these boys, along with thousands of others, a message of hope and love!

Your financial support will provide milk, glucose, medicine as well as funding for care workers and nurses. You can make a tangible difference this holiday season. No matter how big or small your gift, it will communicate love this Christmas. You can also include a personal note, picture or card for an orphan. We will forward each one we receive to the orphanage when we send our care package!

Join us in fighting against an epidemic that is destroying lives. Join us as we extend hope to the least of these!
